Flowers and Relationships

 Carnation

Being one of the most popular flower in the world, carnation is the favorite to be used as boutonnieres, bouquets, in corsages and in a wide range of floral arrangements. The flower is thought to be originally from the Mediterranean area of the world. The name of the flower is believed by some to be originated from the word “corone” which mean floral garland. Pink and red carnations are used in Korea for showing love and gratitude toward their parents on Parents Day (Koreans celebrate Mother’s day and Father’s day in the same day, on May 8). White carnations are often worn by students or children honoring mothers who are far away or dead. Green carnations are for St. Patrick’s DayPurple carnations are the traditional funeral flower in France, given in condolence for the death of a loved one.

Carnations are one of the cheapest flowers, but they come in a ton of colors. So either your guy knew your favorite color was hot Pink and decided to get a flower in your favorite color (how sweet!) or he ran into the flower shop and grabbed the cheapest flower without putting any thought into it. If he did the latter, don't get too upset. Maybe he just needs a little coaching or a hint for next time!

Tulips

Simple in bloom. Bold in color. One of the world’s most popular flowers – and for good reason – these beautiful blooms are perfect for every occasion during any season. Striking as a simple table arrangement, and even more stunning when grouped in the increasing numbers required for larger centerpieces, tulips complete a picture perfect setting for any room.

Tulips are my favorite flower. I think they're the perfect gift for any special moment in a relationship, and they're more unique than roses. They come in a variety of colors, and if your guy gets you a multi-colored tulip bouquet, he obviously put a lot of thought into the gift.

Peonies

Peonies are classified according to flower form. All peonies have five or more large outer petals called guard petals and a center of stamens or modified stamens. Single forms have centers of pollen-bearing stamens. Centers of semi-double forms consist of broad petals intermingled with pollen-bearing stamens. Double types have dense centers of only broad petals (transformed stamens).

The anemone form, often included in the semi-double category, may have more than one row of guard petals encircling a center of thin, petal-like structuresJapanese types are similar to anemones but have staminodes (stamens that do not produce pollen) in their centers.
The peony is a favorite of Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf. Blair has impeccable taste (as if you didn't know that), because peonies are so classy and pristine. They're also an omen for good fortune, and they're known as the flower of riches and honor, according to Teleflora.com. If your guy picks up some peonies, then you may just have good relationship luck coming your way. And chances are, he likes your classy style!

Daisies

A Daisy flower is composed of white petals and a yellow center, although the flower can sometimes have a pink or rose color. Daisies are not made of just one flower. A Daisy is made up of two types of flowers - disk florets and petal-like white ray florets. The disk florets are at the center and the ray florets are at the periphery but they are arranged to give the impression of being a single flower.

I would get a girl daisies if the relationship was new. Daisies are fun, pretty flowers that don't mean anything too serious (like "I love you"). Daisies represent innocence, so it's the perfect flower for the honeymoon stage of a relationship when you haven't had any real fights or issues yet.

Red Roses

On the total opposite end of the spectrum, we have red roses, which, like a romantic guy, I wouldn't get for someone I wasn't serious about.

Many guys may be afraid to get girls roses too early in the relationship, so if he ends up buying them for you, then either you have something very special or he's completely clueless about what flowers mean. Which, to be honest, a lot of guys are.

With almost 120 varieties available, roses are a classic favorite. Roses span the color spectrum with varieties available in all shades of reds, pinks, purples, oranges, corals, peaches and whites.
